The Belgian rack railway was in
fact an industrial line that transported waste up an hillside in the
steel plant of the 'SA d'Ougrée Marihaye' at Ougrée, near
Liège on SNCB line 125A. The line was only 400 m in lenght but
it had two tracks and climbed 150 m with a maximum gradient of 12%. It
was opened in 1905 and remained in service until 1928. The track was
not removed until 1949. There were three engines constructed by Jung.
They could also be used on 'normal' tracks within the factory. They are
believed to have been scrapped during world war 2.
